Being from a quite musical background, one of my favorite parts of traveling the world is hearing how different cultures and languages celebrate the mystery that is life through the music they create.
Our friend Anu played this song for us tonight and translated lyrics for us.
It’s called Silkkii – Silk.
The song is sung in Finnish, while having a decidedly Spanish-influenced Carribbean feel.
I like it.
The lyrics are quite beautiful poetry as well.
Chorus:
You are silk in my arms.
You are the waves in the ocean.
You and I are made from the same tree,
from our head to our toes.
The wood we are made from is good.
We are in the same rhythm as the times
when heaven meets the earth
And creates lightning.
