Working Wednesday #5

I'm desperatly hunting for a wedding dress right now. So, I thought it might be fun to be a dress designer. What do you think of this one?

No? You don't like that one? Ok, how about this one?

Carrie's visited states

I decided when I was ten years old, and realized that I had been to ten states, that I would visit all 50 states before I was 50 years old. I have a rule that I have to spend the night in the state or it doesn't count. It seems as if I'm making progress.

That's 33 states visited at age 25. How many states have you visited? Click here to generate your own map, and please post it in the comments!

Dinosaurs apparently came in all shapes and sizes, and letters

We were at Target the other night, and we were walking through the toy section. We say all these multi-colored "pills" on the floor. When we picked them up, we realized that they were those foam things that expand and turn into something when placed in hot water. Someone had opened a package of dinosaur expandable capsules and most of them landed on the floor. We decided to take them home and see how they worked. Here's what the package looked like:

After they all expanded, this is what they look like.

The captions are our best guesses for what they are. I don't really see many dinosaurs in there... Do you?

Important Health Tip

waterGlass.jpg
It has been scientifically proven that if we drink 1 liter of water each
day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of
Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria found in feces. Body waste.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, we do not run
that risk when drinking wine (or rum, whiskey, beer or other liquor) because
alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling or filtering
and/or fermenting.

WATER = Poop
WINE = HEALTH

Hence: It is better to drink wine and talk stupid than to drink water and
be full of s***.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information.
I am doing it as a public service.

And they're off...

Today marked a very sad occasion. At 11:58 am our friends, Sara, Ernie, and Samuel backed their car out of the driveway next door for the very last time. They will soon arrive in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The neighborly friendship was a great one. We are just sad that it was so short. It seems as if we had just gotten to know them, even though we've known them for close to four years already. Jonathan and I will no longer be able to watch their wonderful son grow up on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. We will now be suffered to see him only through pictures online - for awhile. Sara was always the person who would run over to our house if we were gone, just to see if we closed the garage door. They were our post office and got and stored our mail while we were gone on our trip this summer. We loved our dinner and game nights at their house. Good times were always had. We wish them all the best in their new jobs, home, and life in Indiana. We are grateful for all the time we got to live next door to them. We look forward to visits (both to see them, and for them to see us).

Thanks for being such amazing people Sara and Ernie! Good luck!

Working Wednesday #4

Since the weather has been so nice here recently, I thought it would be really fun to be a dog walker, that is, until I saw this picture. But who knows, maybe I could still make it my new profession. After all, that girl in "In Her Shoes" did.

By the way...if you want to buy "In Her Shoes" with Toni Collette, Cameron Diaz, and Shirley MacLaine, you can right here.

Shove Memorial Chapel

I thought it would be nice for all of you to see pictures of the chapel where we're getting married in Colorado Springs. More pictures can be seen in the extended entry.

Here is the picture that made us choose to visit Shove. I'm not sure who took it, or how they got it that light, but it's gorgeous!

The lighting inside is extremely liimited, as it is almost completely naturally lit. Here are some pictures of another wedding in Shove:

Here are some pictures that Jonathan and I took while we were there last August.

Weather

My sisters have this on their blogs. I thought I'd copy them. I'll put it in a post for now, until I add it to where it can be seen every time.

Found This Fascinating

I found this totally fascinating and a very interesting talk about humanity, psychology, happiness, and human nature.

To me, the moral of the story is that if you want something, you better give yourself instructions that you will accept no other alternatives than exactly what you want.

And then, you better have a strong personal philosophy which dictates to you exactly what you're willing to do, and not willing to do, in order to get exactly what you want.

Check out the video and feel free to post any thoughts you may have using the comments below.

It's snowing!

Just when we thought we were safe from snow for the season. Ok, that's not entirely true. Being from Colorado we know that we can have snow as late as June. Anyway, it's snowing outside...fierce falling snow. It really is pretty, and I'm glad that I'm done with work for the day. I'm also glad that I don't have to go to Boulder tomorrow now. (My professors rescheduled with me because of the snow. They're so awesome.)
Here's a look at what we get to anticipate when it stops snowing:

Working Wednesday #3

Since I'm still waiting for my comprehensive exam results, I have decided that I would like to be an exam grader. Here's what I'd do:

Kilimanjaro Trip videos are live

I have been trying to get our Kilimanjaro videos edited and live almost since we got home last summer.

At least that's what I've been saying... In truth, video editing just takes a while, and can get tedious... so I've kind of spaced it out to not get burned out on creating the videos.

I've really enjoyed them, and am so glad that I took the time I did to edit them, as well as that we took the time on our trip to record our experiences. If you aren't doing this for yourself, I highly recommend at least once/year sitting down and reflecting over what...

you've done. It really helps (well, it helps Carrie and I anyway) to define what it is we have accomplished, and what it is that we still want to accomplish.

One nice thing about having these videos all edited and live on our Kilimanjaro site is that we can share them with the world too!

So without further delay, here is a page with all of our video (edited) from the beginning of our 2006 summer trip (June 8th), through our summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (June 29th)!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

Jonathan and I were fortuante enough to attend several Easter celebrations this year. On Saturday we went to Boulder and had brunch and an awesome egg hunt at our friends' Shannon and Peter's. Sunday morning, we went to church in Littleton where Pastor Larson is. Then we went for brunch and more egg hunting at Jonathan's parents' house. We went to his Aunt Kerry and Uncle Craig's house for lunch with most of the N family there. It's always fun to get together with everyone. In lieu of the "traditional" outdoor easter egg hunt, we did trivia. How many legs does a bear have?

Working Wednesday #2

The Easter Bunny
(access to all that chocolate...yummm! Maybe some of it would even make it into the baskets.)

Again, working wednesdays is where I post a picture that explains why I would like to have a certain job. Here's my job wish this week.
