What Are the Odds?

I haven’t talked much lately. And that’s because I got a job. I’m working for the government here in Auckland, New Zealand. And, for what I assume are obvious reasons, I don’t want to talk too much about my job.

But, I will tell you this.

One of my colleagues is from Ireland. (Well, to be truthful, two are, and when they talk to each other I can’t understand a word they’re saying.  It’s embarrassing.)

Anyway, on Friday one of them comes to work wearing a hat that looked like this.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Hat

I just had to ask him if it was a Nebraska Cornhuskers hat.

He took it off, looked at the back and said, “Well, it’s a ‘Huskers’ hat. Is that the same?”

When I said it was, and asked him why he had it.

His response was, “Well, it’s simple, and I like the colors.”

It’s a small world that brings an Irish-Husker-hat-wearing-man to New Zealand and places him at the desk next to an American Colorado girl who went to the University of Nebraska for a year, and always has rooted for the Huskers.
