Poem: Acres Of Diamonds

Acres of Diamonds
by Jonathan Kraft
written 27. July, 2009

Acres of diamonds
underneath my feet
pages in my notebook
people passing on the street

Acres of diamonds
waiting to be mined
begging me to free them
to release their inner shine

Acres of diamonds
sitting, while I’m hunting oil
attempting to drill in hardened clay
when I could be sifting soil

Acres of diamonds
all just waiting to be polished
simple steps and lots of care
nothing needs to be demolished

Acres of diamonds
lie where only I can see
there is for me this daily question…
how best to set them free?
