Every year, the town of Zuberec puts on a folklore festival. This festival lasts for 3 days, and offers a glimpse of traditional music, folklore, and dancing of the area.
Our friends, Lucia and Ivo (whom we met in New Zealand), traveled all the way home for this festival. And, they invited us to come along!
How can you pass up a folklore festival?
We couldn’t, so we packed our bags, and headed from Italy to Slovakia, via Poland.
It was so great to see Lucia and Ivo again! And thank you so much to Lucia’s parents for hosting us during our time in Slovakia.
The festival highlights the traditional dances of many different villages and even different countries.
There was dancing.
Music demonstrations.
Crafts for sale.
And a museum of traditional Slovakian houses.
Oh, and food of course. Lots and lots of delicious food.
It was really fun getting to peek into Slovakian traditions, especially with a genuine Slovak there to translate for us. Thanks Lucia!
