A colleague told me that tomorrow was the birthday of the late great Dr. Seuss.
So I wrote a poem in his honor.
Happy Birthday Dear Mr. Dr. Seuss
From all of us, in the lives that we live
We celebrate in your honor and cheer
For your brilliant mind with so much to give
Rhyme and reason you gave to us
Still bringing smiles to millions each day
Your stories captured our hearts, it’s true,
like a sail on the wind your words we still say
Oh, the places your stories still take us!
Imagining life in all the ways it can be
Your brilliance did not rust or dust,
but created a true lasting legacy
So here’s what we’ll do in honor of you
We’ll dive into your books and stories galore.
We’ll read and observe, and smile and laugh
We’ll re-read all that you have in store.
You’ll remind us what’s important, like to speak for the trees
and that a person’s a person, no matter how small
Yes happy birthday to you Dr. Seuss…
What you gave us goes forward with us all.
What an amazing and wonderful tribute!! I loved every word of it as I’ve loved every word of Dr. Seuss. Yes, he blest us all!! Thank you, Jonathan and Carrie!!
