Safe in Costa Rica at Hotel Aranjuez

This is a very quick message just to let everyone know that our world travel has officially begun.
I wanted to ramp up to this more, and talk more about why and how we’re doing what we’re doing, but other things became more pressing over the past 6-7 weeks.
However, we are safe and sound at our place for the next 8 days…
Hotel Aranjuez in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The picture next to this post is one that someone else took of the place where the breakfast is served… costs $7 if you’re renting one of the apartments but is free if you are at the hotel.
We are in a Superior Studio apartment here at the Hotel Aranjuez, so we’ll likely be paying for the breakfast a couple or few days or maybe every day depending on how good breakfast is and what else is available in the area – or how much we want to cook breakfast.

The location is quiet (minus someone’s TV in another room) the room is very nice, the wifi works okay (if slow) from this room, and it has a nice kitchenette. More pictures of our room and of the hotel tomorrow.. this is really just to say we’ve made it safe and sound and begun our location independent lifestyle.
Thank-you to our family, friends, and business relationships for all your love and support.
This would have been much more difficult, if not impossible, without you.
We are so glad for and blessed to have you in our lives.
So, your comment below should be about whatever you want it to be about, but maybe you can help us answer this question…
What should we DO while we’re here in Costa Rica?
We have ideas of course, but we would love it if you would say what you’d like to see us doing, and trying it out so you’ll know if it might be something you’d like to do when YOU visit Costa Rica.
Share your ideas below using the comments if you can/would like to!

Hi Jonathan….Remember me, the teacher from PVYSC. Ok, I give up, what are you doing in Costa Rica? I would like to live vicariously through your travels again so I can share them with my Geography students.

  3. Jonathan (in Costa Rica)

Deanna – I don’t know your room number, but yes… send it to me and I’ll see what I can do!
Jill – I do remember you! You don’t have to only travel vicariously through us, though if you do, please let us know what we should be doing for you. But you can come and visit us… we’ll be all over central America in the next three months. Where would you like to come and see us?

Woah – I’m so jealous you guys get to go around the world! I know – I’ve done it, but that just means, I know how much FUN you’re going to have!
You need to go to Tortuguero while in Costa Rica – you’re right about the time when the baby turtles hatch and find their way to the ocean – that was absolutely amazing!!! And there’s this vulcano somewhere in the middle of the country that is guaranteed to spy lava pretty much every night (you can only see it if it isn’t overcast – so maybe wait until the weather gets better). This should be fantastic to watch as well.
All in all – have a wonderful trip – I look forward to your updates! Love, Anne

I can’t believe I even bought a watermellon last weekend so we could try the watermellon and tomato salad. It would taste so much better with those watermellons!! I think since you two are such fruit lovers, you should treat yourself to breakfast a lot. Enjoy!! Love, Mom

Hi Jonathan and Carrie. I was looking at a map of San Jose, and noticed that the Panama Canal is not too far away? Not that the U.S. dollar is worth much these days, but you can spend them in Panama!

Hey Anne! Glad to see you’re reading our updates – Where do you want to come and visit us?
Mom – We had the watermelon this morning and to be honest, we’ve had better watermelon grown in Colorado. However, the pineapple and bananas are a whole other story. Almost like eating an entirely different fruit.
Christine – Our plan is to spend a few weeks here in Costa Rica and then head south to Panama. They accept dollars pretty much everywhere we’ve been here in San Jose as well, but often you can get better rates paying in local currency.

It’s great whenever someone asks me about Costa Rica, best vacation hotels, the real estate investment outlook, or the wellness aspects. I enjoy sharing my experiences in making choices when visiting Costa Rica’s southern Pacific Coast.
