The Beat Of The Clock

Tick Tock tick tock
Tick Tock Tick Tock
My life is not a march of time
a beat marked out while I march in line
to the tune of someone else’s drum
My life can’t be bought for another’s gain
I won’t spend my years working on the mundane
though that may be enough for some
Tick Tock tick tock
Tick Tock tick Tock
The beat of the clock I can not stop
but I know that I am a different drop
that can and will lead to the flood
The change that stands for something different
takes time to bring together all of life’s events
a forest that grows begins in a bud
Tick Tock Tick Tock
Tick Tock Tick Tock
So even though it just keeps marching on
I choose to march in my time to my true song
and not with what’s expected in rank and file
I breathe deep and inspire in unfathomable ways
In the end I’ll know that I’ve lived my days
on my own terms. And that will have made it all worthwhile
