We went here to get away.
To get away from land, and to get our feet wet.
We wanted to go scuba diving. And, the only place you can do that in Cambodia is in Sihanoukville. (And due to time of year when we traveled, this would be our last chance to scuba in southeast Asia.)
But, other things got in the way. When we got here, we learned that to even get to the dive site was a 2 hour boat ride away.
Then, by the time you got in 2 good dives, and wanted to head back to Sihanoukville, you’d be on the last boat back in.
Or, you could spend the night. At what appeared to be a perfect, nearly untouched tropical paradise.
Unfortunately, nature (and practicality) had other plans for us.
Jonathan got a bit of a stomach bug, and we decided that being away from proper facilities for a whole day probably wouldn’t be the best idea.
We were also really in a work mode, just really wanting to spend some time solid in one place and working on our business.
So what did we do instead of diving? We worked.
We would have spent more time at the beach (because it looks so lovely in the pictures doesn’t it), but it’s really dirty.
So dirty in fact, that we were afraid to even walk on that beautiful white sand for fear of glass, needles, and worse.
All in all, we had a good time in Sihanoukville. And, I got to eat some good Mexican food (for the first time in AGES). Sorry Jonathan.
And, there was a private movie theater next to the hotel we were staying in. For $3.50 each we got to have the whole place to ourselves, and choose what movie we wanted to watch.
We had a good 4 days in Sihanoukville, and we will have to go back another time to scuba to our hearts’ content.
