Poem: In Brazil (My Heart Burns In The Samba)

(This was a purchase from someone to re-write a poem they had started, in order to make it rhyme and flow.)

In Brazil (My Heart Burns In The Samba)
by Jonathan Kraft

Beyond what you see across the plain
In the place where the sun has it’s reign
You can never feel alone again

But the carnival goes on in Brazil
This agony of longing provides no thrill
And your eyes… they haunt me still

Please don’t say it’s over now
It’s never too late. I solemnly vow.
Let’s dance the samba and be in love
In the Carnival, we’re in heaven above

Reflection of waves I see in your eyes
But you don’t see, though I wear no disguise
The burning heart behind all of my tries

My plea: just return and you’ll easily see
How I embrace you, holding carefully
So forever we’ll be, you and me.

Please don’t say it’s over now
It’s never too late. I solemnly vow.
Let’s dance the samba and be in love
In the Carnival, we’re in heaven above

Why is my stomach left here churning
Why, when love is gone, is my heart still burning?
