Sharing my passion by blogging
I’m sure that most of you already know this, but I love cooking. And not only cooking, but baking as well.
When I was in grad school, and had had a bad day, Jonathan would offer to make me dinner to ease the tension a bit. Sounds great right?
Well, for me, the problem was that after a hard day I wanted to de-stress.
Some people take a nice hot bath, others have a glass of wine. Me? I chop vegetables.

Fresh Farmers' Market Produce in Boquete, Panama - ALL of this cost $2.50
I decided that I might as well share. I do have about 20 food blogs in my Google reader, so it’s high time I started sharing what I’m doing.
So, here goes. I will do my best to be a food blogger. My biggest challenge: renting and moving from furnished apartment to furnished apartment. I never know what kitchen tools I’ll have and which ones I won’t.
My current challenge: no oven! All things made here in Quito, Ecuador are made without an oven. This makes them perfect for summer days.
Stay tuned…

I loved Julie & Julia. Have you seen it? Did you like it?
Hi Sue,
Yes, I’ve seen it! I have to admit though that I like the parts about Julia Child’s life more than the part about Julie Powell. I think Julie was a bit of a whiny baby. I didn’t really think so right after I saw the movie (read my review here ), but after finishing reading her blog I did.
Doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy it though!
Carrie and I saw it together. I thought it was a fun movie. Wouldn’t say I “loved” it, but on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the absolute best ever), I give it a 5 1/2 – 6. I thought the woman who played Julia Child (name is not coming to mind at the moment) was absolutely brilliant.
No oven, that’s easy
let me know if you need any ideas!
Miss you guys,
Annmarie
We were thinking of you today when we went to pick up avocadoes and thought about the yummyness you made at our apartment last summer… But we haven’t found sunflower seeds here. Any suggestions for substitutes?
Hey Annmarie,
I’ve actually been to Renegade Health to look for recipes! I wish I could find more nuts and seeds though. But, we do go to a great organic market every week (which I’ll be posting about soon.)
Miss you too! When are you coming to visit?
Carrie
Wow, Carrie, I love it! You are an excellent cook and your dishes are always so good. Why not share your ideas and experiences you have preparing foods from all over the world. Love the photo of the casita. you have such “good taste”! Will you have your own food blog? Name? We’ll be watching you! D&C
Hi David and Cora
Thank you! I’m not sure about a separate food blog or not. I will definitely keep you posted. It looks like you’re keeping very busy! How’s the cookbook coming?
Miss you, and hope to see you soon! (Maybe this fall when you’re in Indonesia with Tom and Caroline.)
Carrie
It’s good to chop vegetable’s, not animals
Hey Mrigank!
Carrie’s definitely a fan of chopping veggies, not animals. As for me, I occasionally chop the already chopped animal.

That’s funny. It’s probably going to be more something along the lines of CarriesKitchen, but I like the alliteration.
Jonathan, colette & i have enjoyed reading your blog. hope you continue.
Hey Kenneth!
Thanks for your comments and glad you’re enjoying reading! How did the rest of your travels go in Central America?
Hi Kenneth and Colette!
How are you? I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Panama! Hopefully we’ll be seeing you again somewhere soon.
Carrie
Adam, that was very clever.
