Poem: Shining bright

Written March 1994 when Jonathan is 14

Shining bright (1)

by Jonathan Kraft

There he is as he stands on a stage.
Then he hears the music’s growing fade.
He begins to turn a lifelong page,
and he sees the resilient color of jade.

He moves to his chair and begins to sing,
he climbs a great stair and hears the music ring.
He slowly rises and moves to the front
He has his message, beautiful, but blunt
He says the passage and feels a rush.
He says the last line and wants to let the tears gush.

Shining Bright (2)

by Jonathan Kraft

I was removed to a place that was on a cloud.
The words were soothing, when spoken aloud.
I saw a vision, tomorrow has hope,
and when we work together, we’ll do more than “just cope”.
As I was up there, and said what I did,
it wasn’t just my voice, but also the voice of a kid.
Maybe not a kid, but someone like me.
Someone with a voice, he’d helped them to see.
They have the voice, through the power of one,
a new light has been born, brighter than the sun.
