Tonight I am heading to a book reading for someone who spent some time in Delhi, India.
I found this through a Meetup. www.meetup.com. I actually used it to meet up with internet marketers in New Zealand, and through that connection, I met Pravin. Pravin and I became friends in New Zealand, but Pravin’s family still lives in India. So when Carrie and I were in India, we stayed with Pravin’s family in Mumbai.
The only commonality between Pravin and this book reading tonight is that I connected to both through Meetup, which I am now recommending to you.
Here is what’s same same, but different.
I have no memory of ever taking the city bus in Denver or Colorado.
And I haven’t paid attention to anything to do with the buses, even though I live right across the street from a bus stop.
The picture above is the stop across the street.
I went there, and did not see the number 32 bus I wanted to take listed on the schedule.
So I pulled up my maps app, and noticed something I had missed entirely, the letter Y. It was listed in the App public transportation directions.
So I looked up, and sure enough, there was a giant letter X probably about 2 feet tall, right over my head.

And on the next block, was a giant letter Y.
Bear in mind, I have lived here for 9 months. I have never noticed either of these giant letters.
So now, walking outside, everything is the same, but its different, because my mind is looking for something different.
It’s a really good reminder to me, you tend to see whatever it is you’re looking for.
It is called reticular activation.
For my first ride on a public bus in Denver that I remember, the driver was very aware, and made sure to avoid a truck that cut her off very suddenly.
I was very impressed by that.
Not so impressive, was that when I got off the bus, the smell of marijuana was still clinging to my clothes.
