Poem: To Have A FOCUS

by Jonathan Kraft

Written May, 2005

To have a FOCUS
Means to realize
that there’s a
Future Opportunity Coming Up Soon

There is no need to chase
what I can attract

If I listen through the tick tock
of the clock
or the drip
of the water drop,
I can hear the wind.

When I listen through the wind,
I can hear my heartbeat.

When I listen, really listen,
I can hear my cells
moving through the vessels
to the receivers.

This is what it means
to be focused.

Everything and everyone
are still there,
but the mind
and ears
and heart
and mouth
and body
all come to rest on one.

Can I focus?
