Ubud is known as the cultural heart of Bali, which is one of the reasons why we decided to start our time in Bali there. The other reason is the Sacred Monkey Forest.

Ubud is also the shopping capital of Bali. It has to be. There are so many shops and stores that it’s amazing that there are only 3500 people who live in the town. I bet there are that many tourists at any given time.

We decided to go for a trip to the market, because I like to wander the aisles and look around.

The first stop was to try mangosteen. It’s a fruit, and quite tasty. But, here’s a tip: decide on a price before the lady opens it or you’ll pay through the nose for one fruit. And you can’t really bargain because you’ve already eaten it.

There are all kinds of beautiful sarongs and dresses, spices, artwork, and bowls.

It’s a beautiful place. Get your bargaining brain on and have a great time in the Ubud market.
