There is now an advisory to American's to not even go to Mexico.
Better be reading the newspapers to keep up with all the kidnappings and killings down there on a daily basis. I think it's 350 people PER DAY that are attacked in one way or another in Mexico City.
I have NO INTENTION of EVER going to Mexico again. I've been many many times in my younger past & was not that impressed to begin with.
PLUS, there is tons of TB in people done there that has been brought
to Texas, & the new type is not curable. Those of you traveling should
get shots to cover EVERYTHING to try to protect yourself. I'd hate you to wind up like some of my friends that returned from S. America with
Malaria & worse.

Yes, you really could.

Our apartment here in Quito (the capital city of Ecuador) costs $600/month, with ALL utilities included (We pay $20 extra for higher speed Internet), and our apartment is kind of expensive (although nicer than lots of apartments here as well).

You can eat a BIG lunch for $2-$4/day, and getting across the city, each bus trip costs 25 cents, or taxis are about $4 every 15 or 20 minutes.

You thinking of moving to Mexico?
